Well, in case you wondered, here's a brief description of who I am:(well, not all that brief. I tend to ramble on at times) I was born August 1977 in Pittsburgh,PA, where I've spent practically my whole life. I am male,Jewish (somewhere between Conservative and Orthodox in terms of religiosity), Polish-Paraguain with some German mixed in. I am a registered Democrat and while I don't agree with all their policies, I feel they represent my views better than the other side. I love studying history, whether American or that of another culture, and was almost a history major. I am a student in the School of Social Work at Pitt (ranked #5 in the country last I checked) and currently work at the Nursing Library at Pitt, doing all sorts of odd jobs. I've worked previously as a day camp counselor and security guard (which I find kind of funny seeing as how I'm 5'7",125# and one of the least intimidating guys ever born). I am an avid reader, focusing mostly on historical/cultural books or fantasy literature (though I am a bit tired of the melodramatic epic and its overuse in that category). I rarely listen to music, but when I do it's generally classic rock (Billy Joel, the Eagles,Paul Simon and the Beetles). I haven't seen a movie in a theater since around the time of the 2nd Bill and Ted movie, which I guess is kind of unusual. My favorite authors are Lloyd Alexander and Susan Cooper, though I don't find myself a very discriminatory reader. Rarely do I stop reading a book part-way because it bores/sickens me and almost never will I totally reject a book based on its author (Terry Goodkind and Michael Williams are the lone exceptions to this I can think of). I hope I'm fairly well-informed compared to others my age - I read the op-ed page daily and make sure to catch 60 Minutes, the only real hard news show in my mind. Let's see..what else is there...much of my personality I think comes through on my page. I still like Transformers, role-playing games (though I don't play the traditional pencil-and-paper kind anymore), teddy bears and many other things I supposedly should have given up when I got older. I don't smoke, don't drink, don't use drugs, am pro-life and am easily upset by certain things out there:the anti-immigration movement, separatist movements, Jesse Helms, soft news stories, ignorance in general and people who consider all religious folks "fanatics" or who believe science and religion are at odds. This is probably just a small list of things that get me riled up. I'm an easily offended person though I consider myself accepting, just one of the many contradictions that make it really hard to identify myself with any one label. If I call myself quiet for instance, people who have classes with me would say heck no. But if I identified myself as outspoken or outgoing, people who meet me in social situations would disagree, as I tend to be very introverted at times. I guess I'm just as complex as anyone else out there. Oh well, that really wasn't a great synopsis of who I am but hopefully helps explain who I am to some extent.
