The Scarlet Pimpernel is a Frank Wildhorn/Nan Knighton musical, based on the
work by Baroness Orczy. I have developed this site since 1997, and continue to work
on additions and improvements for it. The graphic design and streaming media files
were prepared by Level 9. I now maintain the site
with assistance from two other fans of the show. By working as a web team we are
able to keep the site updated and offer many features that are not available on
sites for other shows. These include:
Production List - a running list of local and regional productions of the
show, and Alumni Updates - providing information and links to the current
activities of past cast and crew members. These sections allow the active
Pimpernel fan base to continue to follow the show and its stars today.
Center Stage Interviews - these were posted weekly, during much of the
Broadway run of the show. Interviews were conducted by Nancy Rosati with members of
the cast and creative team. It remains a rich archive of the development and life
of the show in New York.
The site offers several photo galleries, audio and video clips, an online Study
Guide, and plenty of other information about the show. I also built a custom "page
delivery system" which handles the site content, minimizes upkeep, and enables
dynamic navigation, random sidebar images, and printable versions of every page on
the site.
The League: In 1998, I joined up with fellow fan Shari Perkins to
create an email discussion list for the show. The fan group is known as "The League
of the Scarlet Pimpernel", and the list has grown into a friendly and helpful
community where we support not only the show, but also each other and the many
individuals who have performed in the show in the past. Shari and I share the
duties of list moderation, while I handle the technical details.
