Dial-up Connections

The most popular way to get on the internet is with a modem connection. This type of connection uses a telephone line to get on the internet with speeds up to 56k. If you're interested in going faster see our DSL section.
Below is information on our Personal Dial-up Accounts. If you need information on dial-up service for your business, click here

Personal Account

A SLIP or PPP connection to the Internet. Unlimited time on-line (although we do ask that you turn things off if you are not using it!) What do you get with your CityNet Personal Dial-up Account?:

  • Full Internet Access - email, websites, newgroups, instant messaging
  • 4 email boxes (POP3 or IMAP)
  • 56k Local Dial-up Numbers
  • Low user to modem ration (no busy signals!)
  • Browse the World Wide Web
  • 10 megabytes of webspace
  • FREE content filtering on request
  • FREE spam filtering
  • FREE customized Netscape 6.2 software on request

This is a very open ended level of service. It will enable you to take advantage of new Internet clients (such as VoIP) as they become available. And for the Unix inclined (and those with older equipment or slower modems) you can log into a Unix shell account. You may access CityNet using either ISDN, V.90, or any modem with speeds of 14.4Kbps or higher all for the same price.
